DIYine: A Celebration of Homebrewing Menu

Our third annual DIYine: A Celebration of Homebrewing is coming up on Saturday, February 7th, 6-10pm at the MAH. A benefit for the Fruit Tree Project, the event includes tastings of all manner of homemade wines, beers, meads, and soft drinks, as well as hors d’ouvres , live music, and homebrewing workshops.

Neighbors Break Ground on Riverside Community Orchard

The first public orchard in the city of Santa Cruz has been approved at Riverside Gardens Park in the Lower Ocean Neighborhood. Fruit trees will be planted on February 8th, 2015 in an atmosphere of community celebration. Future harvests will be freely available to community gardeners, neighbors, and the general public.

Fruit Tree Project Updates and Volunteer Opportunities

Thanks for making 2014 another great year for the Fruit Tree Project. Although the drought brought less abundance of fruit to pick, we did host 25 harvests and workshops this year, picking several tons of fruit, with about 500 pounds given away through food distribution networks.

Human and Solar-Powered Equipment

At the Santa Cruz Fruit Tree Project we’re serious about shifting away from fossil fuels. In addition to reducing food waste and promoting local food production, we organize most of our events around walking and bicycling, and use a lot of human-powered and solar-powered equipment.
